Introducing Clarabelle Lane Farm Chicken!

In 2020 the Little Farmers of Clarabelle Lane Farm, Elli Jean, Jacie, and Rutledge, started raising and selling Pasture-Raised Non-GMO fed chicken. What started as a means to encourage the kids to ‘chip in’ a bit more on farm chores quickly sprung into a “Dad, could we raise chickens and sell them?”. That year they raised 200 chickens and sold 125 chickens to a few families.

They learned all about:
  • Feed Management-Making sure the chicks had enough food to grow fast enough but not too much that they wasted it (draining their profits).
  • Business Metrics-How to determine cost and how much they should expect to make.
  • Predator Protection-We have lots of fox and coyotes around here.
  • Care-What to do if you have a sick chicken or if one is a ‘runt’.
  • Butchering-We butcher chickens on farm and they were part of every step. TN allows for up to 10,000 poultry per year to be butchered on farm.

Their goal for 2021 is to sell 300 chickens.

Here is the life of a Clarabelle Lane Farm Chicken:

  • Our chickens enjoy fresh green grass daily, bugs, sunlight, and room to flap their wings and stretch their legs
  • Fed Middle Tennessee grown non-GMO feed
  • Loved on and cared for daily
  • Protected by Super Trooper!
